River handed the player back "Thanks fer the offer, but I think Booster already has a partish mix and we are supposed to be hostin' this after all" River said with a smile and and another call to Booster. "Booster, where's yer iPod at?" I trust your music tastes

Prism moved from the table with the treats and grabbed a glass of punch and went over to Booster. "Hi! Nice set up here, maybe we can even do some dancing once you get your music out?"

Lens cocked her head as the shorter pony put the player back into her hand and let out an audible sigh. "Alright. I guess most ponies just aren't ready for retro mix goth industrial K-pop." She said with a shrug, and slipped the player back in her pocket, "But I gotta tell ya, Happy Sad Candy Schoolgirls with Chainsaws Fun Time is totally awesome! You should check it out if you ever get the chance. They put on a hell of a show!" She dug into her other pocket and pulled out her phone, tangled in a pair of headphones, a lollipop, and a crumpled coupon for green tea face mask. "Ooo! Shinies!"She pulled the others off with a look akin to a magpie stumbling on a cache of tinsel, and put them back in her pocket, and set about texting her boyfriend, mildly wondering where he was.

At the pledge party for Phi Omega Psy. Don't think they're really ready for this much excitement. What doing, boyfriend?

Kimi found herself awkwardly standing away from the doorway as more ponies arrived- including one nearly as tall as she was, who seemed to have no filter between her thoughts and her mouth. It didn't seem like this venture was going to really pan out...

and then she heard somepony mention dancing. "Oh, there's going to be dancing? I am quite fond of dancing," Kimi said, cracking a smile. "I haven't had a chance to cut a rug since the Fall Formal."

Silvershine
Dorms – ΨΩΦ Floor- Apartments

Fading to the background Silver takes to leaning against a wall watching the chaos flow as other students join in. Glancing over at Prism the mare just shakes her head. She was happy for her, the entire thing with the other stallion hadn't worked out and she deserved somepony, still didn't lessen the pain though.

Delightful Payne Jr.
Dorms & Apartments - ΨΩΦ Floor

"...Oh, well enjoy then." Payne said, as the newcomer just walked right on by like she was invisible. Looking over the party, it did look like it was starting to get very lively all on its own, and she was happy about that. Though, she did feel like things were entirely out of her hands. Sure it was a get together, for people to meet and get to know each other, but it was also about the sorority that was being formed.

Uncharacteristically, Payne sighed. This is hard.

Chroma landed on one of the window ledges in the hallway and slid open the window and slipped into the hall. He motioned for Chitin to do the same and then folded his wings and straightened out, pulling his coffee cup out and taking sips from it again. "Chitin, this is a party" he said, looking at the group of ponies and going straight to the one with icy short hair, pecking her on the cheek as soon as he reached her. "And this is my girlfriend Lens." He turned from Chitin back to the mare. "What kind of trouble have you been up to? It's not like you need much help. Oh, and this is Chitin, the new student from the local hive."

Lens perked up as Chroma's lips met her cheek. "Hey there, boyfriend!" She said with a giggle, kissing him back on the cheek, "You smell like coffee; did you bring me some?" She asked teasingly before turning her attention to the pony that had just followed her boyfriend through the window, "Nice to meet yo..." She started before narrowing her eyes and eyeing him carefully, "... Hmmmm... what have we here?" She murmured out loud, and turned her focus back to Chroma and her face lit up, "Is it Christmas? Is it my birthday? You always bring me the best prezzies! We HAVE to introduce him to IVY!" She squealed, her long fingers wrapping around both Chroma's and Chitin's wrists and tugging them along behind her. "Ivy! Ivy darling?! My little sunflower, I have someone you HAVE to meet!"

Ivy looked up from her cup where she had been lost in thought just in time to see her roommate pulling her boyfriend and one rather confused looking pony in her direction, and all the hair down her back went on end. It was clear to her that the confused looking pony was meant to be her new acquaintance, and Ivy briefly entertained the thought of leaping out the window to escape her roommate's "good" intentions. Instead, she glanced from side to side briefly and downed the entire cup of spiked punch and hid the cup behind her back, "Y... yes Lens?"

Lens skidded to a halt in front of her roommate and eyed her suspiciously, noticing her suddenly calm demeanor. She pulled the new pony in front of her and pushed him gently in Ivy's direction, "This is Chroma's new friend, Chitin! Chitin, this is my wonderfully lovely roommate, Ivy." She said with a grin, stepping back toward's Chroma's side and elbowing him with a smug "I told you so" look on her face. Ivy, glanced at her with a raised eyebrow, then turned back towards Chitin, swallowing her shyness hard. "Chitin, was it? My name is actually Evelyn. Lens nicknamed me Ivy on the day I moved in. Charmed to make your acquaintence." She said with a smile, trying her hardest to keep her nervousness in the pit of her stomach from spilling out her mouth.

Chitin - Apartments - ΨΩΦ Floor

Being pulled by the sudden new pony, Chitin's mind immediately kicked into instinctive behavior, every part of him wanting to hid, gaze shot in all directions seeing pony after pony, trying to replicate them from what little glimpses he had, pale blue skin, then pink, then gold, all the while his hair and eyes like that of a kaleidoscope, an array of colors just trying to find something he could match. Before suddenly coming to a stop in front of the green mare, with red and pink skin, eyes similar in color. Unconsciously, emerald flames sprouted as his body matched the mare in front of him. "Um...hi..." Chitin replied in a voice that was not his own. Not realizing his change.

Ivy's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates as she found herself face to face with, well, herself. She dropped the cup behind her back and both hands came to her mouth, "Oh, wow." She was able to murmur, glancing back and forth between a perfect copy of herself and her now slackjawed roommate. As the initial shock passed, she internally chided herself for staring and cleared her throat, offering out her hand to Chitin gently, and brushing her hair back and over her ear with the other, "A changeling? I've only ever read about your kind in books. I never thought I would get the opportunity to meet one in person." She said softly, "You are very good. Were I not sure I was me, I would have confused you for me in a heartbeat." She said, her hand coming back to her mouth as she realized she was babbling.

Lens shook her head from shock, and let the smug smile return to her face and whispered in Chroma's ear, "Officially a good idea! I think we should leave them alone and let them get acqainted. Besides, I want some of that coffee." She giggled, tugging at his elbow to get him to follow her away.

The bat pony perked up with the reaction of Lens. Her strong emotions were still something that drew him to her, the wide range that she showed just amazed him. Early on in their relationship he was mostly interested in her mystery, there must be something else under all of that eccentricity, but the more he got to know her the more he realized that her personality was her own and it was totally real, and he had grown to love the unpredictability. Normal girlfriends must be boring. "I wish it was a prezzie, but he's an assignment from Dean Hannibal. I don't think she approves of me giving changelings out for presents."

Chroma wasn't sure if he was supposed to stare in shock at what Chitin was doing or if he should talk some sense into him. Lens was the only one that messed with Ivy, and even then Chroma knew she was crossing a line here and there. But after Ivy got over the shock she seemed to take it fairly well. She seemed nervous, but Chroma couldn't think of a time she didn't seem nervous. Maybe talking to someone away from the overwhelming personality of Lens would do her good. "Just let me know if he gives you any trouble." he said to Ivy before walking off with Lens.

"Sorry dear, but my coffee. You can have a sip, but I need this." he said pouring out a dose into the lid of his travel cup and handing it over. "Joe said he was coming, so maybe he'll make a pot.

"Spoilsport." She teased, winking and taking a sip. She wasn't actually interested in the coffee, but she kept a wary eye on her roommate out of the corner of her eye. "So he's an assignment? A changeling, huh? I didn't know they even really existed. I thought they were some sort of urban legend or something." She whispered, giving him a lopsided grin, "Either way, I think this will do Ivy some good. She needs to step outside her comfort zone sometimes." She said, turning back towards her boyfriend and giving him a nuzzle.

Chitin - Apartments - ΨΩΦ Floor

Hearing the mare's comment, Chitin finally gave himself a moment to look at himself. Grabbing bits of hair while glancing at arms and legs, finding none of it to be his. He must've changed out of shock or simply surprise from the other pony grabbing him. Closing his eyes, the changeling focused on returning back to his charcoal skin and hair back to the black ruffled natured. Feeling the magic burn away his disguise, like that of shedding a skin, Chitin opened one solid turquoise eye, looking himself over before giving a sigh of relief. "S-Sorry about that. Your friend, she startled me. Um, yeah I'm Chitin. Sorry about that. We, ah, we usually don't try and come out of the hive unless its our turn to hunt." Chitin tried to explain before seizing up, realizing what he had just said, "N-not that I'm hunting right now no. I was sent here from the hive, to try and mingle with other ponies, we are trying to merge with your society I guess. I don't really know I'm just a drone." the changeling tried to explain only to find himself rambling, "W-well what I mean is that I don't know the full story, like I said...just a drone." He tried to summarize. Wow, social interactions was much more difficult when not under a guise. This mission was quickly becoming something more than he could certainly chew.

Ivy couldn't help herself but titter a bit. He was just as nervous as she was, and strangely, that was refreshing. She smiled haphazardly. "That's alright. She does that to everyone. I kind of learned to roll with it." She said, straightening her skirt with her hands. "And don't worry, I wasn't thinking you were on the hunt. To be honest, I was afraid I was babbling like some sort of social invalid." She said with a nervous laugh, wringing her hands a bit, "I was afraid you'd think I was the campus idiot with the way I was... am carrying on." She ran her hand through her thick red hair and pulled a long curl over her shoulder, "So you came from a hive? Is that anything like bees or ants? Not that I'm comparing you to an insect, just that they're very industrious and... oh no, I'm doing it again." She murmured, "Is it hot in here?" She asked, fanning herself, suddenly feeling the slight dew of sweat on her skin.

"Not really an assignment. I just happened to be in her office when he showed up and she told me to give him a tour. So I showed him the coffee shop and explained the map. I figured he'd be better off meeting people than having a meaningless tour." Chroma said with another sip of coffee. "Besides, I wanted to see you." He said returning the nuzzle. "But we probably should be social, can't have a party and keep you to myself." He got up and went over to Payne and gave her a handshake. "Nice party, the hall looks nice."

"Oh no, Oh no no no" Chitin replied, Ivy listed off her worries, "You're fine don't worry, seriously its kind of surrounding you, the, the worry I mean." the changeling continued, finally taking notice of the cloud of emotion around Ivy. It was such prominently stress and worry that it honestly made him worry a bit himself. "B-but yeah, yeah I guess you could say we're not unlike honey bees, I mean we gather emotion like they do nectar. Though sometimes we replace others if they are filled with certain emotions...but we're trying to cut that down I swear!" Chitin once again grew nervous as his words stumbled out once more. "Uh, um, but y-yeah we also have different kind of drones each under a single monarch, guards, surrogates, hunters, breeders, and so on."

Kimi deliberated on whether or not to have the rum punch or the regular for entirely too long. Several newcomers had arrived while she was trying to decide, including the shy girl she'd met here and there on campus- and an odd looking stallion who was changing colors and shapes. That could only mean he was a changeling! Kimi poured some of the rum punch and followed him, her curiosity getting the better of her.

still, it felt a little uncomfortable that everypony here knew somepony, and despite other students recognizing her here and there, she didn't actually know any of them. She dug her phone out of her pocket and debating texting Razor for a moment, then put it back, drank her punch in one big swig, and poured herself another. Maybe she'd try and edge into a conversation a little later...

Ivy shifted to her other hip and smiled nervously, "That sounds a lot like bees. I am quite fond of bees." She said, pushing her glasses up her face before clasping her hands behind her back. "They pollinate the flowers and plants, and make them stronger. And they're very orderly and organized. It sounds like your hive is much like that." She said, shifting to her other foot, "And you did do a really good impression of me. It was like looking in a mirror. Although I think you made me a bit thinner than I really am. Not that I'm saying that you did it on purpose! That's not what I'm saying at all!" She stammered, "I was just saying you have a natural talent for mimicry! A... and you know they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Oh, sweet succulents I sound like a fool, I'm so sorry." She murmured burying her face in her hand. "This is... social things... they're not my strong suit. I'm used to talking to plants. They really don't care if you say something silly or careless."

Chitin - Apartments - ΨΩΦ Floor

"Try growing up always being told to be someone else, then being told oh yeah we need you to only be you now, okay good luck." Chitin answered, trying to give a nervous smile at least to try and bring down Ivy's nervousness. It had grown so enveloping that he inadvertently fed at least a bit from it. It was interesting, how nervousness tasted like that of blueberries. Maybe he could finally learn why in psychology, if he ever got a chance to talk to Hannibal again. "I, um, I had never actually heard that before, a-about the mimicry thing...sorry I'm probably just as nervous. I am still trying to get used to the whole talking in my normal voice, usually I'm well...here let me show you," Chitin continued, resting his hand against his throat, feeling the insides change, "Hey, I'm Chroma I like art and colors and I was the unfortunate individual to have to escort this strange bug around." Chitin spoke, doing his best to imitate the batpony's voice with his magic, before giving a slight pause, focusing once more on the nature of changing his voice, "and I'm Chroma's girlfriend, I'm won't give you my name but I'll sure introduce you to anyone else before you get a chance to walk in the front door." Giving a broad smile, Chitin hoped he had at least broken the ice just a bit.

Ivy couldn't help herself and tittered into her hand, her eyes squeeze shut trying not to let them water with laughter. "Oh, oh that's good! You've got their numbers there! The only thing that's missing is the incessant stream of sweets and invitations to watch Revenge of the Toxic Pony 6, or whatever it is Lens watches. You really are very good!" She said, still giggling, waving her hand in front of her to cool off. He really was very charming, and she could feel her shoulders beginning to untense, though she wasn't sure if that was her naturally relaxing or if the spiked punch was hitting her system. She reached down behind her and picked up the cup she had dropped and put it on the nearby table. "I think it's great that you and yours want to integrate with pony culture. If your kin are as interesting as you, they should have no problem, and I'm sure there are parts of your culture that could greatly improve the lives of ponies. Organization, for one." She giggled again softly, "And a sense of humor."

Chitin - Apartments - ΨΩΦ Floor

"I hope the other groups are doing well, all types of us were sent to different work places or just different sects of your society, hatchlings at daycares, adults and elders with those in the city. The Queen said that it was to try and target the majority of your different age groups." Chitin replied, eyeing the empty drink put on the table, "Anyways I'm sure they are doing fine, um would you like another drink? I, I mean it looks like you finished yours, or, oh you said you talk to plants, do you have your own garden?" Chitin asked, trying to find something more to talk about. He didn't like to admit it but he was starting to draw a blank on what to talk about and admittedly he didn't really want this conversation to end. He was really starting to like this mare.
